Returning to the Office: How to Stay Safe

Posted on Jun 10th 2020

As quarantine measures loosen, many are returning to the office, whether that is a cubical, a warehouse, or a constant moving target (we see you, traveling salesmen). One thing is for sure: we are all returning with a new awareness for safety and cleanliness.

Here are some tips for maintaining a safe workspace:

Sick? Stay home.

Since many employees are already set up and adjusted to working from home, this opens up the possibility to work remote if you aren’t feeling well. This not only allows the employee to work in a comfortable environment while they are sick, but also reduces the spread of illness. Temperature checks may be necessary to ensure all employees are in good health before accessing heavily trafficked areas. If you’re looking for a contactless infrared thermometer, click here.

It’s not enough to just wear a mask.

We all know that wearing masks is important to stop the spread of germs, but improper usage negates many safety benefits of masks. Tara Haelle, Senior Contributor of Healthcare at Forbes recommends washing your hands after putting on a mask, as well as every time you touch your mask. Wearing the same mask (especially a cloth mask) for long periods of time is not sanitary either. If employees are required to wear masks, whether they are cloth or disposable, make sure they have enough to be able to swap them out after each use. We provide medical-grade, KN95, and everyday usage masks – click here for more details.

Sanitize touch points – but don’t damage them.

Did you know that using some sanitization agents on electronics can cause damage? Avoid household chemicals like bleach, and if you are sanitizing your devices frequently, add a screen protector to preserve your phone or tablet. Need 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes that are safe for devices? These kill 99.99% of germs! If you want a "set it and forget it" way to disinfect your phone, keys, and other small items, you can get a UV Sanitizer Box that not only kills germs, but can charge your phone.

Better yet, avoid touch points altogether.

An easy way to not worry about contaminating your hand is to avoid touching common areas. This means light switches, countertops, and doorknobs. If you're looking for a tool to help you press elevator buttons and open doors without even touching them, check out these handy tools.
