Plantronics M20 Bluetooth Wireless Headset

Plantronics M20

CAFL Web Team Rating: four-star rating

Why We Love It:

It can be tough to find an economical Bluetooth headset, but the CAFL Web Team has done the work for you and found a reliable headset for under $40. The Plantronics M20 proved its worth during testing, with good indoor/outdoor sound quality, talk time to match its long-lasting comfort, and separate buttons for volume, power, and calls.

Comfort/Design

The Plantronics M20 wireless Bluetooth headset fits comfortably into the ear with a grippy silicone earbud that tapers off to extend very slightly into the ear canal for stability. After you place the earbud in your ear, you just swivel the earhook over the top of the ear to keep the device in place. The earhook is not detachable, but it can be switched from left to right to fit onto both ears comfortably. We found that the M20 headset can be worn for long periods of time without discomfort and is barely noticeable when you’re wearing it.

Features

For a device priced under $40, the Plantronics M20 stands out from the pack. Fully charged, this device lasts for up to 16 days on standby and boasts 11 hours of talk time. If you’re on the go without much downtime to charge your devices, this headset is ideal.

When it’s time to charge the headset, a red indicator light on the front of the device will flash three times when it powers up. If the device is on when the battery gets low, the M20 will announce the low battery status. Using the charger that comes with the device, the M20 requires only two hours of charging time to be fully charged. Apple iPhone users have the luxury of a battery level indicator with the Plantronics M20 Bluetooth headset. The indicator shows up on the iPhone, making it easy to stay on top of remaining talk time.

Ease of Use

Pairing this device was simple. As with many Plantronics devices, we just had to press the call button until an LED light flashed red and blue to indicate pairing mode. From there, everything was done on the testing phone. The M20 features Multipoint technology, allowing users to connect the device to two different phones simultaneously and answer the one that rings.

The Plantronics M20 headset has separate buttons for call, power and volume adjustment. The volume adjustment button is just a single button that requires users to cycle through to find the ideal volume level.

Sound Quality

When we tested this headset outdoors, it was easy to hear the person on the other end of the line at a normal volume. Phone calls placed indoors were of good sound quality, with callers on both ends of the line able to hear each other. The M20’s speaker picked up and transmitted the user’s voice well. Background noise was detectable, but it did not interfere with the conversation. In terms of economical Bluetooth headsets, were impressed with the Plantronics M20’s sound quality.

Overall

At $37.99, it’s tough to beat the price of the Plantronics M20 Bluetooth wireless headset. That being said, this is a comfortable, easy-to-use headset with excellent stability and talk time that is worth its cost. If you’re going to be using your headset frequently and are looking for an economical option, the M20 is a good choice.
