Bluetooth Review: The Best New Visor Speakerphones
Posted on Feb 28th 2013
The CAFL product team has recently reviewed our Bluetooth visor speakerphone car kit options to make sure we’re bringing you the very best products. After testing all of the speakerphones we could get our hands on we added two new kits to our selection: the Motorola TZ710 Roadster 2 and Jabra Freeway. These speakerphones are both top quality, with slim, attractive designs, easy-to-use buttons, and crisp, clear sound quality – on both ends of the call.
A car kit is an excellent product for anyone who needs to stay constantly connected to clients, coworkers, friends and family. During testing we found the Roadster 2 to be a great option for those seeking high-functioning simplicity in a Bluetooth device. Read on for more.
In-depth review of the Motorola TZ710 Roadster 2:
With a sleek look and feel plus high-quality sound and features, the Motorola Roadster 2 adds a touch of class to in-car communication.
Design
The speakerphone is small and well built. The visor clip felt a little flimsy at first, but once we had it on the car’s visor, it was clear that we had nothing to worry about. The speakerphone was sturdily attached to the visor.
Ease of Use
We were most impressed with how easy it was to use the Roadster 2. All of the buttons are easy to find with a setup that made sense to us, even when we were in the middle of traffic and couldn’t take our eyes off the road. The Roadster 2 includes a dedicated mute button and an on/off switch.
Making calls was fairly easy, as the speakerphone understood our voice commands perfectly, allowing for truly hands-free calling.
On both ends of the line, the Roadster 2 provides clear communication. Background noise is present when the car is traveling at top speeds, but voices on both ends of the line remain clear and understandable, an impressive feat.
Features
The speakerphone's built-in FM transmitter allows you to stream music or podcasts through your car's speakers, a nice bonus feature on an already solid device. Android and BlackBerry users can use Motorola's Car Finder and MotoSpeak apps. Car Finder does just what it sounds like - allows users to find their cars. This is accomplished with turn-by-turn GPS directions through your phone. MotoSpeak allows user to hear and dictate text messages using voice commands, a nifty feature for handling those quick messages that don't require a phone conversation.
Overall
We were very impressed with the Motorola Roadster 2, enough to recommend it to you. Sound quality is great, the bonus features make this speakerphone a pleasure to own, and it's the speakerphone we found the easiest to use during testing. You can't go wrong with the Motorola Roadster 2.
