The Jawbone Prime is a mid-range Bluetooth headset manufactured by Aliph. The Jawbone PRIME is marketed as an advanced noise-cancelling device which uses an algorithm that digitally fuses together the best audio from its two microphones (the clean preserved high-end frequencies of speech) and its patented Voice Activity Sensor (the low-end frequencies of speech) to create a single, natural sounding speech signal. These features all contribute to top-of-the-line noise & wind reduction by separating speech from ambient noise.
Sound Quality
The Jawbone PRIME offers dual-mic technology paired with Aliph’s patented Noise Assassin 2.0 technology that delivers near-perfect sound quality. Callers described our voice as crisp and smooth, with excellent noise cancelling even when we were calling from a busy street. The Jawbone PRIME features a NoiseAssassin button that toggles the noise cancelling technology on and off. While the setting is always on by default, we tested sound quality with NoiseAssassin off and callers said we still sounded clear, but with the slight hiss of background noise.
Ease of Use
Setting up the Jawbone PRIME was incredibly simple, as it automatically goes into pairing mode the first time you turn it on. The user guide clearly walks you through the pairing process, which took us less than a minute. Once connected, you can easily make and receive calls. The headset has two buttons – the Talk button and the NoiseAssassin button. The Talk button allows you to answer incoming calls and switch between calls. The NoiseAssassin button is not only used to turn the headset’s noise-calcnelling technology on and off, but also rejects incoming calls, adjusts the volume, and more. While users can learn how to use these buttons after a couple days of practice, some of the combinations of button presses were difficult to remember without the user guide on hand.
Comfort
The Jawbone PRIME includes several wearing options – including two different styles of earbuds in three different sizes- small, medium, or large. An optional earhook is also included, which can be easily removed or reinstalled for a more secure fit. With the range of options included, users are sure to find a style that is comfortable for them.
Overall
We found the Jawbone PRIME to be an excellent Bluetooth solution for users who frequently find themselves in high-noise environments. Incredible sound quality and high-tech noise cancelling technology make this the perfect headset if you are often on the road or out and about.
