A Cellular Accessories Solution to a Common Client Problem

In Q4 2018, a Cellular Accessories for Less client proposed a challenge they faced; they were replacing an expensive and clunky proprietary electronic device with an iPhone for more than 2,000 field workers.  They were concerned about adequate battery time to last throughout the day.  The idea that the new device was much less rugged was also a concern.  Providing protection, power and an improved form factor were all requirements to allow for their intended functionality.

Cellular Accessories put together a multi-tiered solution that would not only meet the needs of our client but exceed them.  The iPhone was harnessed to the worker for quick and easy access.  We achieved this using a Crossbody Phone Lanyard & Case Wrap.  This would allow the device to securely and safely hang from the worker when they didn’t need it, but also provide easy access when they did.

The field worker’s legacy device powered up throughout the day.  The new iPhone didn’t make it past mid-day before the battery depleted, so access to mobile power was required.  To make it more interesting, the devices would be dropped into a charging bay each night, so they didn’t want a charging case to interfere.  After reviewing a variety of options, we went with a PhoneSuit Portable Charger.  This product would be attached within the lanyard case and piggy back to the phone.  For the connection between the phone and portable charger, we suggested a short Charging Cable.

Numerous options and configurations were tested and the client loved the solution.  Did we mention everything had to arrive by year-end?  That too was accomplished and the solution is currently deployed in the field today.

By coming to us with their specific need, not only were we able to exceed our client’s expectations, but also keep their costs low.  Thus, even after we applied multiple accessories to the iPhone, the cost was still substantially lower than the proprietary unit they’d been using.  And all of their data now transacted in real-time!
